I am so happy to be here! I thought I might lead off my blog with a short post on why I chose to open a massage therapy studio in Enumclaw. I grew up in Eagle River, Alaska, which is a small bedroom community north of Anchorage. I loved growing up in a small town surrounded by mountains and have been missing that feeling ever since. I have been in the northwest since 1999, attending the University of Puget Sound and the Seattle University School of Law. Like so many others, the recession did not just knock me off my feet - it flattened me. But, as life has it, adversity just helped get me on the right course. I went back to school to become a licensed massage therapist and have been practicing ever since.
For years, I had been commuting from Ballard to a stable in Auburn, where I worked part-time as a professional groom and where my horses were boarded. While I needed to do this at the time, it was really quite ridiculous and extremely costly in time, fuel, and wear and tear on my body. I was finally able to end this commute in 2013 and purchased my first home in Lake Tapps. In 2017, our entire stable moved up onto the plateau and my mental frame of reference finally fully shifted from Seattle to Enumclaw. This turned out to be a huge relief. The more time I spent in town, the happier I became. I love the main streets, the restaurants, the local businesses, the people, the beautiful farm country, the mountains...pretty much everything about it. This summer, I purchased property in Enumclaw where I will eventually be building my future home and barn for my horses and am planning to be here for the long haul.
I hope to become a lasting part of Enumclaw’s vibrant community while contributing to the small town feel that is clearly so important to the people who live here. I am still new to the area so I am hoping to be meeting a lot of new people over the next year or so. It is never too late for a new adventure!
